A while ago a client brought in a little job for me.  She had a set of 4 old photos in an old mount that she had found in a loft and she wanted them copied, retouched and reframed.  This is what we had to work with.

and here is a close up

My challenge was to get the photos & mount copied and retouched, then recut the mount and reframe them. With the help of Alan Bond Photography we completed the job with amazing results.  Over the next couple of days I am going to recreate the final result so you can see them side by side.  Watch this space.

Happy New Year! After a bit of a staggered start I think weather permitting we are up and running again. This week I may have to leave early to collect my children because the roads around our house are still very bad, so please ring if you are going to call in.

Hello everyone its my last day in today and am very much looking forward to a bit of a break. I will return on the 5th of January.

December is always a nightmare for us picture framers as work all piles in for the same deadline which gets closer and closer until at some point you have to say No I cant do it how ever late I stay. Then it snows oh joy. Thankfully my last frame was assembled about an hour ago. I now just have to wait for people to collect their pictures. At least now I can relax.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers as I was expecting a very difficult year in 2009 due to our economic down turn but thanks to you all things have been ok, there have been one or two dips but some surprising highs too. Anyway thanks to everyone, have a great Christmas and a very good New year.

In the last couple of months I have been asked to frame a number of cricket related items. Can’t think why, something to do with an urn I think.  Anyway I just thought I would share them with you.

Gary Best, a very good client of mine, came to see me a year or so ago with a poster print by Mordillo.  His family were friends of the cartoonist, and many years ago Mordillo had signed a poster and given it to Gary’s father.  It was framed and proudly hung on the wall, and was later passed on to Gary.  By chance a number of years later, Gary spotted the same print on ebay and noticed how rich the colours looked.  He bid on it, won it, and asked Mordillo to sign it ,which he did.  Above you can see the difference in the colours, and see how UV light can damage your artwork.  So Gary did not hesitate to have UV glass put on his new copy when it was framed.  For more information about UV glass please call Martin on 01342 833266.
