Sheri Gee

I am a British figurative artist, based in West Sussex. I adore painting people, relishing the challenge to get an accurate likeness whilst trying to keep my brush marks lively, colourful and interesting.
The majority of my paintings & drawings are produced at a life drawing group which I’ve been going to since 2001. I also work together with six artist-friends on a fortnightly basis. We call ourslves the London Road Group, and have a blog to which we regularly contribute. We meet fortnightly to paint together in a studio atmosphere for mutual support and encouragement.
I like to experiment with colour in my paintings, trying to accentuate the subtle tones which play across and reflect in the skin. My chief aim is to fragment what is seen by the eye, into a complex pattern of colour & brush-stroke, whilst maintaining a likeness of my subject.
Recently, I have expanded my area of interest, working on a series of Ashdown Forest paintings and equestrian art, themes which I look forward to exploring further in the coming months.
I’ve also worked as an illustrator & book designer for many years, having trained as an illustrator at degree level.
I’m happy to take commissions. If you’d like to discuss a portrait commission, please get in touch. mail@sherigee.com
